Pro-Motion Marine specializes in pleasure craft and small boat salvage. Large salvage companies do not maintain equipment for shallow draft operations, which are usually the case with pleasure craft and small commercial boats, due to their operating areas. Medium and larger tugs require a minimum of 10 feet of water to operate in. Pro-Motion Marine has developed work methods and equipment for such operations.

Pro-Motion Marine provides rescue and salvage services though out the province of Quebec and eastern Ontario . Our equipment is packed and ready to go on our mobile support vehicle. This vehicle also tows our motorized staging platform to site and supports our operations on scene. Pro-Motion Marine owns and maintains it's own equipment.

Each rescue is unique in response and management. Hard aground on rocks is totally different from soft aground on sand or mud. Sunk in 20 feet of water is very different than 80 feet . A twenty five footer on its keel is totally different from a fifty footer on it's side. The work method is different in each case. The key to success is to have the proper crew and equipment on scene, quickly.

What to look for when contracting a salvage or rescue service:

•  Does the company professionally offer salvage and rescue services or is it simply a sideline or make shift service?

•  Does the company own and maintain it's own equipment, or are they chasing rental tools while your waiting?

•  Does the company have its own certified tow boats? Will they supply safety/control boats to secure the operation?

•  Does the company protect your interests with regard to oil and fuel spillage? Do they have oil booms?

•  Will they bill any major insurance company directly?

•  Are they willing to work under the direct supervision of the Transport Canada Environmental Response authorities?

•  Do they offer a written contract or is it all based on verbal representations?

As the vast majority of pleasure craft mishaps occur on weekends when you may have a hard time finding your insurance representative. Leaving your boat unattended is not an option. The condition of your boat will deteriorate and if it is sunk, it may move a considerable distance with the current. Remember, it is your responsibility to remove any obstruction or danger in the water ways that you have caused. Additionally, the law provides that you may be held liable for oil pollution damages.
